Purbachal New Town - The New Future of Dhaka

Purbachal New Town project is the largest planned township in Bangladesh by the authority, RAJUK. The new future of Dhaka is located partly in Rupganj Upazila of Narayanganj district and the rest in Kaliganj Upazila of Gazipur district, Balu River in the west, and Shita Lakshya River in the east.

It is 16 KM away from the zero point of Dhaka city. Its total area is 6227 acres. The township will include around 26,000 residential plots of various sizes along with 62,000 apartments with necessary infrastructure and urban amenities, like schools, colleges, hospitals, playgrounds, mosques, etc.

Bangabandhu Tri Tower: Main Attraction of the Project

Bangabandhu Tri Tower Project is one of the best attractions of Purbachal New Town. The 111 storied skyscraper Iconic Tower is called Tower of Legacy.

Alongside 71-floor Tower of Liberation and 52-floor Tower of Language, It is a part of Bangabandhu Tri-Tower.

Sheikh Hasina International Cricket Stadium

Sheikh Hasina International Cricket Stadium is an under-construction cricket stadium situated in Sector-I of multi-billion-dollar Purbachal New Town of Dhaka in the surroundings of Dhaka, Bangladesh. Bangladesh cricket board and National Sports Council jointly venture into this stadium.

The stadium will have a five-storied pavilion, 3-tier stands with capacity of 50,000, and the option to add at least 25,000 additional seats. The development of the stadium budget estimated at 1100-crores tk bd ($130 million) cricket stadium in Asia making it the most expensive.

Development Condition of The Stadium

The stadium is located on about 38 acres (15 ha) of land east of the Turag River on the Purbachal Highway Expressway. 1100 crore (US 120 million) stadium is expected to be completed by December 2022, although groundbreaking is scheduled for 2019.

Upon completion in 2022, the stadium will become the third largest cricket stadium in terms of capacity, and the most expensive cricket stadium in Asia. According to the 2017-2020 Activities Report, BCB has allocated a fund of TK BD 1.48 crore for setting up temporary playing facilities throughout the year to facilitate domestic competitions.

Current Condition of Purbachal New Town project

Site Development

Site development works of sector 1-5, 8,9,11,12,13,14, 17-20, 22,23 and 29-30 have almost completed. In other sectors Site development is in progress. Site Development of Gazipur part has been started and the process is 65%.

Construction for Road

Road construction works in sector no. 1,3,4,5,8,9,11,13,14,17,20,29 and 30 have been mostly completed. In sector no. 2,7, 10,18 and 19 road construction works are in progress. Also, construction of roads will take place after significant progress in development work in other sectors.

Construction for Bridge

Bridge no.3 has been constructed in Narayanganj section and work on bridge no.25 is still ongoing & 70% work done. Tenders for remaining bridges are under process.

Construction for Canal

Construction of 100-feet canals is going on simultaneously on both sides of the road.

Utility Services

Already people have erected electric poles at sectors 1,3,4,5,11,13,14 ,17,23,30. Necessary steps are taken to set utility services like electricity, gas, water supply, telecommunication, and sewerage etc. Installation of electric Sub-Station at sector # 4 already completed.
